i seriously cannot believe no one has commented on this song. the sound is so haunting, and the lyrics are so nostaglic and beautiful.
i think this song was written by rocky in the present from the perspective of himself in this period of time (this past relationship). i think this relationship was between two young(er) people, so it's been one of those first true love kid kind of relationships that has really molded him into the person he believes he is. i feel like those kind of people have touched you so deeply that you can't ever truly get over them, and i think this song is a tribute to that experience (although personalized, of course).
anyway, i think that the relationship is going through a bit of a hard time, and the writer wants to find them "a way of out here"--out of the problems, into a space where the relationship can really flourish like before. the whole beach house memory is that better time from before that he wants to recreate. he realizes once the morning light comes, or reality, they'll be back to fighting, but he just, for the moment, wants to reminisce over the better times because he is still so in love with her.
i think that last stanza is really just a culmination of all his dreams and wishes for his relationship and this escape from all their problems/all the annoying stuff that reality comes wiht. But obviously, the relationship ended and scarred him as all great relationships do. it just seems as if she will have a bit of a permanent hold over a piece of his heart because of those holes she burned into his heart. i'm not sure. it's a beautiful song, though.
