Ok so I don't know if this is right...at all. But to me it's about a long distance relationship and the couple only gets to see eachother twice a year, in fall and in spring. The only problem with long distance relationships is that you get very lonely the qoute "So hang up the phone cause you're probably better alone" suggests that he's debating wether they should break up or not because he's assumeing that she's feeling as lonely as he is. He knows that it isn't anyones fault he's feeling this lonely except his because he could've broken up with the girl suggested in the qoute "And the cold reminds me that I've chosen this life".
