i love this song. i think it has a really poignant sadness.
perhaps, googoogoo, the 'metaphores' was the one, and actually the only metaphor, cos i agree the rest are similes - suffice to say 'leaving me the whole world in exile' is hyperbolic - was about the ocean. but i think that's quite good; no one can give an ocean direction, it's there, its huge and it goes its own way. thus the persons apparent goodwill is futile.
