Song discusses the Bush Adminstration's policy and design on how they went to war. "It was often talked about, it was often raised, but nothing was ever done about it" When Bush went to war, it was debated and talked about it, but nobody really did anything to STOP it. "It was oversimplified". We thought when we invaded Iraq that we would be greeted as Liberators and our democracy would have a positive effect on Iraq, and we would be out of the war in a matter of months. This was obviously false, as the song reflects this. "There was a time when a crime was a crime. But now I think I'm losing my mind". It was an obvious 'crime' for Bush to lead this country into War. There was a time when this would be a crime, ( to indirectly be responsible for the thousands of American soldiers killed in Iraq). "But now I think I'm losing my mind" "Shall I take back everything I ever said, and live my whole life in silence instead". All this talk about he war, has gotten us no where. Four years into the war, we are still no where. I think he means, that even if he speaks out against the war, it will have no effect. "Shall I take back, all my attacks, all my accusations, all my 'mistrust'". Maybe you're right, but I don't think so.
