The singer doesn't exactly want people believing everything they hear but he'll admit he likes the attention. Then he realizes its easy for a rumor to start but its not so easy to clear the air. He whines and all, but, after all, its publicity. Its the only possible meaning I could manifest from of this vague piece. It sounds good though.
