i think this is like.. if he gets to famous that he's living in california with all the celebrities who are so fake, then he won't have achieved what he wanted to.

I think what Lovenothing is trying to say is that a man who is so attatched, who's roots are so ingrained into Omaha would see California as the land of the celebrities, so to speak. He obviously isn't saying that everyone in California is a celebrity, but it is a common fact that there are a lot of celebrities in California, and, just as Nashville has its own connotations, California is branded as this land of sell-outs. I'm asking you to consider it simply metaphorically.
