lyric corrections : first verse "but you collect them all" should be "but you can love them all" 2nd verse : 'like cuts of empty space' should be 'like i'm some empty space'

I think there is a whole different spin on this song. I think that he's singing to his love, who is an alcoholic, and relates her disease and obsession with alcohol to his (disease to her) and his obsession with her.

"there's just so many things you never needed to say, like i'm you're other soul, but you can love them all" is him saying, that she said he was his other soul, but at the same time he feels that she loves alcohol just as much. After he says "your tears are meaningless, they're written on your face", which to me means the tears are meaningless because they're fake, and false, hence "written on your face", like an alcoholic swearing to stop drinking over and over. Then it comes, "just like the chemical, just like the disease that stains your lips tonight" that to me is clear that he's talking about her drinking habits, then says "you are the disease that's in my life", as if calling her the disease known as alcoholism. The chorus, "if it's no one's fault then there's no one to blame and nothing to say", it's like using alcohol as an excuse, it's not your/my fault, it's the disease. "it's not one's fault so there's nothing to save, and no one to hate, but i want to so bad, believe me" the 'i want to so bad' is reffering to 'nothing to save', he wants to save himself from her, like an alcoholic from their disease, but there's nothing he can do. Not even hate her, not even the disease - 'no one to hate'. Then second verse. he starts talking to her, when under the influence, he's just an empty space. the stupid look off of your face refers to drunken expressions. then next two lines "you're not the finest one, you're not the only one" he's singing to the disease itself, following it by "you're just the disease ~ that stains her lips tonight", "you are the disease that's in my life" he's saying the disease in her life is the disease in his life, poisoning their relationship. I'd like to re-iterate about the chorus, "but i want to so bad, believe me" after "if it's no ones fault theres just nothing to save, and no one to hate" is him saying he can't blame her, he can't save her, and he can't hate anyone at all for it so he's trapped.

I think the next group of words is really what brings it home. He speaks as though he is the alcohol itself. "we're great in small doces, i pronounce it" - he's saying that when she only has small doses of alcohol she's fine, and they as a couple are fine. "you're satisfied loving me" she is satisfied as long as alcohol is in her life, almost as a underlying message he is displaying his jealousy of it on a certain level. "you're so proud of yourself, and your disadvantage to me" "it's just something you love to say" again, speaking as alcohol itself, he's saying she's proud when she's drunk, that she gloats about how hard she parties, and that she loves to blame it on the disease, alcoholism.

"the greater the dosage, makes me mispronounce it to be" "YOU'RE DEAD INSIDE OF ME!!" this is a strong line, where he is now talking directly to her. he is saying the more she consumes, the more contempt he has, and in those moments he's ready to give up on her completely and finally move on.

Then another absolutely amazing line from evans blue, "but when you're alone, and no one knows, it doesn't seem to matter!!" he's saying, that when she's drunk by herself and 'no one knows' meaning she's not at a party or around people (guys) that it doesn't bother him hardly at all, it's when she's drunk with other company that kills him.

Then Evans Blue pulls it all together and explains what about their relationship keeps him with her through all the pain and hardships "you're the same inside of me", he is telling her, what alcoholism and alcohol is to you, you are to me. So even though she knows drinking is wrong and that drinking makes you sick and feel bad and needs to be given up, she still drinks without control. And to him, even though he knows being with her is wrong and he needs to give it up, and that he feels bad and sick and angry about it, He Still Loves Her Without Control. That is such an amazing parallel they drew.

The last chorus he starts singing as though they've both accepted their diseases, her to alcohol and him to her, and the last part "if i say i want you so bad, it doesn't matter, don't believe me, you're just the disease that was in my LIIIIIIFE" this to me is saying that he finally broke up with her, which in turn caused her to quit drinking. The words "if i say i want you so bad" shows that even though she's tried to stop drinking, she still wants the alcohol so bad, and even though he has given her up, he still wants her so bad, and the song ends with them both in denile.

This is my first post on SongMeanings, sorry it was so lengthy i just really wanted to analyze this song, i've been listening to it for a year and reading over the lyrics constantly and it wasn't until yesterday that all these things started standing out to me so strongly, someone please give me some input on my interpretation, tell me what you think.
