Everything I am about to say concerning what i think this song is about is my personal opinion, and i do not deny the fact that i could be absolutly wrong.
I believe this song is about acceptance in todays world, and how not only is it very hard to find such acceptance, but he indirectly implies that it is not worth the worry. But he ties this thought in with not only being accepted, but also stay true to himself.
When he says things like, "pussy, yes they call me this", he is refering to the people that think he is strange or not living up to societies expectations lashing out at him for being himself so to speak.
When he says things like, "Maybe i should just be this bedroom performer", he says maybe i should just give up, and live their lives of pleasure. Aka, i should just take the easy way out.
I think what tyboisfun is saying concerning the pressures of the music scene might have some weight behind it. This is BTBAMs third album, but second major album, and it is very possible that their label, or whoever produced them tried to force them into sounding more radio friendly, or like tyboisfunsaid, they might have put pressure on them to write a song as "incredible" as mordecai.
but he keeps going back into the idea that living a life based around sex and the things this singer is known to lash out against (being pleasure for the wrong reasons), would be amuch easier life. If anything it seems like he is being tempted.
The last lines, though the most EPIC mofocking lines ive ever heard live, are a bit harder to intepret. He calls himself a coward, and then makes implications that he is losing, or getting rid of something he once possesed. When reading it would seem like he is pretty much saying, "fuck it ill take that life of pleasure". The only thing that confuses me is i doubt he would actually go doing this in real life, so it brings up the possiblilty that these lyrics might have been written for a particular circumstance that took place in the past. Maybe he was facing a descion in which things like sex tempted him, and at the end he just gave in to the temptaions and went for it. If this were to be the case the lyrics at the end would serve a much more powerful purpose, and lines like "Piss it all away" would refer to a certain or a couple certains things of regret he feels, and he sarcastically says to himself, "Go ahead buddy, throw everything youve ever believed away".
So concluding id say this song is about an argument the speaker is having in his head concerning a descion that applies to several things, including societies standards and his acceptance to this society. The beginning of the song is read as more of a general slur of thoughts and personal arguments, but the end seems more personal and deals with intense feelings of regret.
btw this is the best BTBAM song out there. ive seem them 3 times, and the second time (ozzfest) they played this song last and it was epic as fuck.
i'm going to just steal what xcrazycorex and tyboisfun said. it too might be all wrong

so its already been stated that Tommy (the singer) was most likely pressured by the record label into a new hit, which would be as popular and commercial as Mordecai. He is having these conflicting thoughts about writing something to fufill his personal happiness, or something to meet the expectations of the record label. the song is very bopolar, or schizophrenic in the sense that he is more or less taking different sides, different emotions towards the writing approach. He is worrying about what...

He is worrying about what they will think. I think the bedroom performer would just be when he is playing the songs to himself in his room, rather than something sexual. it could be either or, but i think that this means he is tempted to give up the whole musical career, then calling himself a coward for thinking of such a thing, just because he can't deal with the stress.
as for the title, (meaning one who is self taught) i think he is trying to communicate that the success was a fluke, and he may need some help to follow through with a song as successful
