I just created an account because it aggravates me so much when people say ETID sold out. They are by far the definition of creating music for the love of it. Gutter Phenomenon was made by the band without any regard to trying to fit any genre. They made this cd and enjoyed making it because they did whatever the fuck they wanted! ETID is one of my favorite bands for that reason. They do whatever they want and somehow it comes out amazingly. Their music has mass amounts of energy, catchy and simple guitar hooks, screaming and singing that are both unique and memorable and breakdowns and choruses. Now I know people are entitled to their opinion so people can go ahead and continue thinking they sold out, but ETID has never sold out and will never in my opinion. I have every single ETID cd and enjoy them all in a certain way. The one thing that I believe though is that their earlier cds were not truly themselves and now they aren't caring about fitting a genre. Earlier cds were much more technical, but probably just for the sake of technicality. Their music since Hot Damn! is dumbed down in a way, but in a good way is my personal feeling on it. So anyways this song is great in all aspects. The "woah-oh" interlude is a great addition to their own style of rock music fused with elements of hardcore, punk, etc. This song I think is an anthem to their new found "not giving a fuck" attitude. Though I really never know how to understand their lyrics I love them for that reason of their originality.
