I think it's about a girl's first love. She falls in love with a boy and loves him in every way possible (ties in with colours and the lover/mother/child/brother lines). She has an open mind about the relationship, however, she realizes the boy only knows how to love one way (not necessarily sex, just not the full depth and breadth of love). Regretfully, the girl realizes this, and refers to it as him simply seeing in 'black and white', she still loves him but knows he's not the one. His 'one trick pony' is the one way he knows how to show love.
