All I can think of, the way I interpret it, that is, is someone not knowing how to deal with a good thing when it comes along.
"A withered past and a blurry future"
This person has had it bad before, and is going nowhere fast.
"I live too fast and I know I will lose her."
He's so sure he's gonna screw this up. He doesn't see much point in all this, and hates how he feels about this girl.
"But there is an option, to die is to live in her head."
If he can give himself up he can hold onto her for a little while longer.
I may be missing the point, seeing how I am basing most of my interpretation on a personal situation, but that's how I got it. I know a guy like this. Hmm.
