i think this song is about all the arguments bno has had over the past few months? or years? and how theyve overcome their struggles now...the first line seems like theyre saying we made our weaknesses our strengths sort of thing you know? and then everything else sounds like their old habits to deal with their problems (ex: We drowned our problems in the whiskey...We smoked our drugs and cigarettes to cleanse regrets) but then the song shifts to let the audience know that theyve overcome (ex: We rinsed our nicotine stained fingers double clean) and also as the song repeats, "now we're better than ever!"
