In response to Stripes:

I don't believe that the Clipse were referring to sexuality in the line "Play both of the fields..."

In my opinion, they are saying that they "play both sides of the field..." as in they look through OTHER people's perspectives as well as their own...

Then it follows with the line..."See I know pain"...which is saying that they understand what the other person is feeling because they've been in their situation before or can relate to what their going through.

That's just a general thought. In my opinion, the Clipse are talking about relationships. They play "both sides of the field" as in they have played people as well as been played theirselves...and therefore they know what it feels like being on other end..."see I know pain".

In response to Stripes and Chincheck:

The line "Play both sides of the field, see I know Caine" (not pain) means that he's experimented with cocaine in the past, in addition to marajuana.

The line "Play both sides of the field, see I know 'caine" (as in coccaine), means he has dealt drugs and used drugs ("hydroplane"~HYDRO=WEED/MARIJUANA), because the next line says "I keep 'EM high like Kurt Cobain."

So, Malice is basically saying, as Jay-Z has said many times, being a drug dealer can be just as addictive as being a drug addict because they do it all for the "lime(light)." While he does smoke weed, he is not addicted to it. However, he does have an addiction to making money and being...

Where did you get that?
