This song (might) be about this girl who likes some guy, and she thought he might like her back. So now she's in this total fantasy. And now she's (perhaps asked him out...?) completely freaked because she figured that he doesn't like her back. And here she lived in this total fantasy...I love the line; 'I almost kind of like the pain'. Which means she put herself through the pain and struggle (the fantasy) and now she's kind of...just treading water in the pain.
