I am quite surprised to see no one has commented this song as of yet, considering it's one of the gems of this album. Many will, and do, take this as a "girlfriend" or "love of his life" that changed. Pretty explanatory, huh. But, i think he is talking about more than one, though Jeremy writes singularly, i think he means all his old loves in general, since he cant call out each individual. He is deeply hurt and saddened, but he knows no matter what, he has the power of God. Which can diminish the most brute of pains. As he states "He’s everything that you could never be" clearly shows his point. And it will be well taken. Oh, and the 3 piece breakdown is a plus too.
