One reason is because Josh isn't there anymore. I have no clue why Billy used effects in his voice. However, this about this: how long would you really enjoy them if they sounded the same every record?
On the other hand, congrats on being a little scene conformist. It's not about what you want everything to sound like. As I've said, it's better to be different. As long as there is some insight, significance, and effort in the songs, they shouldn't be dissed or rejected (unless you think you can do better, of course). Now, go look up "screamo" on urbandictionary and make your playlist for the week.
