Anyway, I'm not really sure, but it sounds to me like someone who's depressed and/or really unhappy with himself falling in love with someone who, to them, is perfect and it just makes them feel even worse. And then when he feels like he doesn't feel the same about her anymore he makes himself hate her so he can start fresh... I dunno, I think I'm just barely in the ballpark there
