this song is so emotional in the play. i mean, it is on it's own, but in the play it follows the scene in which jon learns his best friend, michael, is HIV+.
it means so much to me because, the whole play jon is going through a crisis of being thirty and having accomplished nothing he had wanted to. jon is sourrounded by people 'selling out', but the big debate is what is selling out and what is excepting defeat. in this scene/song he realizes michael's choices were justified with his new found disease, and jon is figuring out what is truely important to him.
