"Time to take control" probably means just that, Wayne is trying to regain the control of himself and his own life again, even though it's hard "harder than you know", because this was someone really close to his heart. "Leave it behind, I can't take this hating, I'll make it go away" sounds to me like he's trying to forgive this person, and make this person stop whatever it is that s/he's doing. But then "I can tell there's nothing more to say" is Wayne sadly giving up on this person.
