Definitely about regret. It uses the metaphor of being on a horse-coach (ghost-coach, whipcrack, coachman) and perhaps being able to "hear some people laughing" as though laughing at (Thom), and then regretting it "i jump out of a window". Basically doing something and then later regretting it (I turn the clock back to where I wasn't taken in)....... Jumping out of the window and "I wanna turn back" both fit in with this too........ The only thing I don't understand is "I need a rubber man, I need a stretchy man"......... (NOTE: skttrbrain definitely has the words right the second time.)
Mmh, it could either be about having to stretch oneself to fit reality, or feeling divided between two opposite situations. The stretcher line is about feeling beyond ill. But they're just lines to convey the feelings of powerlessness.
