I forgot to mention in the afor comment that the biggest reminder of The Great Gatsby in this song is the line:

"Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me"

I always thought as Tom, symbolizing the bay in between Gatsby and Daisy so, in that sense Tom was the ocean that "stole the only girl I ever loved"

Also I envisioned Gatsby standing on a ledge stretching desperatlly, vainly towards Daisy, the green light, his aspirations. Sp the line "Spinning on that dizzy" and "why are so far she said".

I know that GAD covered this song, but I just wanted to point out some similarities. And sorry to those who never read the book, and have no clue what Im talking about.
