I think it also talks about how many people, not just leaders, contradict themselves. They say they do not agree with something or they believe it to be immoral, but then they do those things themselves.
We have lost ourselves to self-contradiction.

I might just be stating the obvious here, but then again, someone can interpret this song differently. There are more parts to the song that I haven't analyzed completely but I believe those few lines sum up the basic meaning of the song. Now that I've given my input on what I think this song is about, I will say that this is one of my favorite songs off the album. Everything about it is awesome.
