First of all I would like to say that this is what it means to me, it may mean something else to you, but that's why the lyrics are slightly vague so your listening experience will be more personal.

The title of the song is very specific. It just means you live a life where you are hung over on Tuesday, which ultimately means you party it up all week long and live a life of full sin. There is nothing in this song that points directly to any one addiction, except the title, which makes you think of alcoholism. I think the song applies to all addictions and all sins.

"So long to the long to the hurt and stormy weather. It's time for a cleansing." The singer is saying that he's done with the life of pain and heartache he has created from an Unfulfilling life style and "It's time for a cleansing. Nice try, but you can't afford this forever" This is his good/evil conscience telling him, "hey buddy, you can't keep living like this way forever, in all of this sin (good)”, but "you know it makes you feel good (evil)."

“Feeding on your soul, you'll search for a cure, you want to be sure." Every person on the face of God's green earth has had this feeling. You want to be happy, you want to feel love, you want peace, and we all want that. The sinful lifestyle feeds on your soul and you search "for a cure" and you find the cure, but you want "to be sure" that you don't have to submit and "lose control", you want to be sure that "this is really you." He is thinking of taking the first steps of Faith.

"So long since I can't even remember it’s time for renewal." This line is pretty straight forward. It means you have lived the wrong way for so long you can't even remember being a happy person and now it’s time for renewal. The renewal of his spirit, the renewal of his soul and of his mind by filling it with positive influences and blocking out the sin. "You know that you won't have forever. You know it makes you feel good" Here comes his conscience, telling him what to do, but the evil human lustful sin comes back to tell him how good it feels to do wrong.

Now the song takes you through the chorus again. After the chorus comes the bridge. "I fell towards the fire, shielding myself from sin." The image of him falling towards the fire is a very much a picture of his Faith in God growing--growing to the point where he can shield himself from sin and "things are looking brighter" because he is now living in the Light and "this is the way I want to live."

"So long to the hurt and stormy weather, it’s time for a cleansing." He is say saying good-bye to his old, sinful life and he tells the sin/devil "Nice try but you can't control me forever."

"So long to the end." He no longer belongs to death and sin so he says goodbye to the "end". "You'll always be there, but you are gone to me." Even after he takes his step toward Faith, sin and the devil will always be there, but they are gone to him.
