I agree, you need to take a second before you can appreciate the song, it doesn't have the energy, chaos, or panicked pace that can be found in lots of bright eyes. Or fast flowing mind blowing lyrics. But when Matt Ward joins in, the depth of the song shows through.

i think he is trying to find something more peaceful and different in his life, no doubt because of the rehab he sought to get off cocaine and other things. this was released around the time of Cassadaga, obviously, and he's been seeking... psychic and spiritual help or something (mainly in mexico)
