The song is about a bad relationship where both people don't really want to stay: "My heart aches, in Ember
My life is, september", but there is too much lust about the couple to break up: "your breath stinks, so kiss me".
Maybe a devillish spawn will come of this unholy relationship: "get a crucifix ... then your baby kicks" (references to religion and the number 13)
That seems like a spot on interpretation. I only heard of Engerica last year, long after they split up. Shame they did spilt so soon given how great There Are No Happy Endings was.
