At first when i heard this song on the end of the question deluxe edition, i kinda skipped it. It had poor production and the rhyming is fairly simple when it does rhyme. However, for some reason, some days later, i had "so with these few words you'll erase me" and it made me come back to this song, and since then, i have loved it and i love every part of the song now. Emery has an honesty that few compare to. So many relationships end on such a sudden note, as if nothing ever happened (and i know from experience) but as the phrase goes "a friendship that can cease has never been real." This is basically a mature way of showing the disbelief of things that have gone on in the relationship.
Such as where he says "i can't for the life of me remember when you changed your words from i love you to i don't know." I think that's referring to how people can tell you that they love you, but it's really a matter of trust.
