I'm surprised no ones commented on this yet, it was my favourite on the new album. The song is basically pointing out how Marines train so hard and long for this country, yet wind up being the first ones to die, some girls I know have marine boyfriends, this song offends the living daylights out of them.
On another note, the intro is one of the best song intros I've heard in years. =P Contrary to popular belief though, it's not the guy from Full Metal Jacket, it's just a very good facsimile.
@LunaticLiam My friend was a Marine and he always viewed this song as very pro-Marine, telling me that lines like "first on the scene and the last to know" or "Heaven is filled with our casualties" were Marine mantras, proud to throw themselves into battle and die, even if ignorant as to why. I also picked up somewhere that the voice of the drill instructor was the superior of the guy from Full Metal Jacket, a real-life drill instructor himself. i know and work with alot of marines that absolutely love ministry. they all agree both ministry and the song gangreen are definitely pro military. they have always been against the people sending them to die needlessly in conflicts we don't belong in. Ahoorah! marines
