i feel like this song is talking about how people try to believe in religion/god and all that just sort of as an insurance plan so that if at the end of their lives, if everything is how it's claimed to be (if god/heaven exist) they will be saved. so the speaker is saying that he'll do the same - he'll pray to god to basically cover himself.
