i didn't say you're wrong but i'm just saying you're stretching it. it may mean that to you but that doesn't mean its what the song means, not even close. i know thats the case with all opinion, but it kinda peeves me when people relate every switchfoot lyric to christianity just because thats the way they want to see it, because most of their fans are christians (unfortunately). i just think switchfoot deserves more credit for being lyrically so multi-dimensional - which they dont get because all the christians go around using the lyrics to preach their own sermons, making the songs seem one-dimensional to passerbys.

and i do see it from your point of view. sf's songs lead me on these trains of thought too, but not all of the thoughts the song inspires in me can be attributed as the meaning of the song itself, without any logical connection. i sometimes get the feeling that christians (not necessarily you) want to lay claim on them just because they're celebrities, you know like those people who go "switchfoot is christian!" as a bragging point, as if it strengthens what they believe. i mean, who cares if the president is christian, it doesn't mean anything to my walk with god. being a christian isn't like being in a political party, its not about "who's on our side", so whats the big deal about proving that switchfoot are christian as long as they make great music that benefits everyone, not just christians?
