There are so many parts in this song, there arelike 500 different pieces of symbolism. it seems like nothing in his songs are ever meant to be taken literally.

heres some of what I got out of it: The "little sister" part doesn't mean it's actually about his sister I think it illustrates the closeness of the relationship like in the Song of Solomon when Solomon refers to his lover as "my sister, my spouse" it was a metaphor, they weren't anywhere close to being related, they weren't even the same race, but he said it.

The rock of gibralter symbolizes invulnerability

unencumbered, I think is used incorrectly but he uses it as a refrence to a girl he dated whose favorite word was unencumbered.

I really don't get most of it, there's too much... but if I knew all the words, I would write myself out of here and if I was all the colors I would paint you pretty and gold in a picture.

Am I the only one who thought this song was about politics?

I always assumed that the name and the line "separates our house from the middle of the street" was a reference to the housing crisis. I figured rest was just about enjoying life in spite of how crazy the world is.
