Cover art for Somedays lyrics by Regina Spektor

I have a feeling that this song is about a person who is in some kind of rehab or clinic for depression/addiction.

Maybe this person has imaginary friends?: "They're so much stronger than the friends you try to keep, by your side."

To me, the song is about being so unhappy you cannot focus on anything at all: "somedays aren't yours at all" , the only thing you think about is somebody who you love but cannot communicate with or do not want to communicate with in case you hurt them by the way you're feeling: "I'm not here, not anymore I've gone away".

The person in the song is obviously in love with a girl but cannot be with them- "I'm in love with your daughter, I wanna have her babies..I'm in love with your daughter..so can I, please?"

The part where Regina sings: "They come in all quiet, sweep up, and then they leave" makes me think of the person in a clinic/rehab sitting on a bed, only noticing the staff/cleaners coming into their room. They feel isolated and alone.

The lyrics "I've gone away, don't call me, don't write....I'm not here, not anymore", is the persons plea to their lover that they don't want to communicate with them because they're afraid their unhappiness will bring them down with themselves.

Please, tell me what you's all think :)

I don't think it's imaginary friends. look for my comment at the bottom. that says what i think.
