The islands are being refered to as a small room. An enclosed place surrounded by water cut off from others. Then suddenly becomes a real planet. It's opened up to the universe. The "Wasn't he the devil" part I think sounds like a Riku Ansem controversy. And "He won't call me anymore" could be Sora reaching out to Riku or even Kairi calling out to Sora.
