i found the second verse of this song particularly important as jay straight up admits to purposely "dumbing down" his music after the high succesful Life & Times Vl. 2 (5xplatnm) in order to maximize his money. Its also interesting when he makes references to wanting to make socially conscious raps (i.e. kwali & common sense, aka common) but instead decides "i can't help the poor when i'm one of them".
As a big fan of jay's more focused work (reasonable doubt, blueprint) it was interesting to hear his take on why he mostly chooses to make high selling, but mediocre, albums instead of the classics he has shown capable of.
