The only two meanings that I could think of were that this is what colin thinks happens when you die - hands get numb; stupid people. The other thing I could think of was that it's what life is like, so death doesn't seem like a bad thing, or at least not much of a change. I guess that's what I got out of this song - that death isn't really that much of a change. Maybe I'm way off. Probably.
