Kele said in an interview with The Guardian that it's about college graduates who want to kill themselves- that they come out of school and still can't find a purpose in life. I think that's reflected in "like a castaway in an ocean, waiting for a purpose to rise"... the graduates wait for their purpose in life to rise, and they think suicide would be a better option than going through with life. I love how the song swells with the drums and guitars and background voice about halfway... it's very beautiful. Definitely about suicide.
