I loved this album before I figured out that Daughtry is led by the American Idol singer Chris Daughtry. ( I THOUGHT his face looked familiar!) Something about his voice is enveloping and comforting... Some of his songs would make great background music for movie/TV scenes or trailers.
This song sounds to me like a guy who got out of his hometown, got away from something he felt was worth leaving behind, and his new life didn't turn out to be as successful as he'd hoped. Now, he's going home to where his girl's love has become enough. (Why wasn't it before? Is love/sex/marriage enough to really give up all other dreams?) He has pain, but is it b/c of failure or having to return home in a bit of guilt for actually leaving? I guess it doesn't truly matter b/c he's going home, and that's all that matters.
