First off, I never thought of it as an institution. But it obviously fits well.
The only parts that really stuck out to me when I first heard this was:
"Please let that be you knocking on my door so loud just like you do."
"Please let that be you ringing my phone right now like I wish you would do."
"Please let that be you singing my song so nice souding like you do"
And to me, it seemed like typical start of a relationship. Where you're always sitting around at home secretly hoping that the person will call or show up to see you.
