Oh how I wish this song had the polished sound and production quality of their records from their "golden era" (61-66), because if it had, it would be one of their greatest singles. It doesn't matter what kind of trouble or pain or bad stuff the singer is breaking away from, it fits them all. Such a meaningful song for many, it overcomes its ragged quality to a degree, but isn't one of the Beach Boys 'best of the best' because of it. (They should have re-made it in the late 80's or early 90's, sigh).
