my first impresion was that they have an affair or something and he is going to protect her and take the 'shot' (not like a gun), like the responsibility or something, for when they are discovered

or now that i think about it maybe the girl doesn't love the man that is 'chasing' her or stalking and they are scaping from him so they can be forever and ever together and stuff
