First off, In Flames is definitely the best metal band ever, when it comes to lyrics. Almost no other metal band has such thought-provoking lyrics.
This song is definitely one of my favorites lyrically.
Now in my oppinion i think all these people who think it's about natural desasters are wrong. I think it's about the pointlessness of war. There are a lot of "end of the world" references. I think it has to do with a lot of people's (specifically American's) views on war. I love the lines, "In times of make believe, no one really seems to care/Maybe I should care less, cause I'll die too." I think they're refering to people's desire to look away and "make beleive" everything is all-right. They have to force themselves not to care so they aren't so torn up about it inside. but looking away is just going to bring the end of the world/nuclear winter/etc.
there's a ton of minutia i could go into but i'll just leave it with my technical critique. Not one of their best song musically, but the flow goes with the theme and the lyrics are extremely powerful. thats why it's one of my favorites of theirs.
