I've put a similar comment on Zebraskin but I think these two songs should be listened to as a pair. One about the guy who walks away from the alcoholism, one who stays - in Zebraskin the telling lines are, just as in this, the last few. Here it's 'You'll always be there/But you are gone to me' - in Zebraskin it's 'I wonder (may have lost my best friend).../I wonder (may have found my best friend)'. The two are about a pair of friends (or at least, I believe so) - one of whom decides to lose his best mate to save himself, the other who decides to lose his best mate to remain on his path of alcoholic self-destruction.
