Chicago Lyrics

Cover art for Chicago lyrics by Mat Kearney

Another beautiful song from Kearney. Lyrics are riddled with biblical accounts. The water line..water being synonymous with the christian faith...cleanliness and baptism..new life. "My heart to ur wine" At the last supper Jesus used wine to substitute his blood, shed for us. "Step across the branches" a scene in the Bible where Jesus was greeted like a king..having palm frongs laid before his feet. "Stepping over my markers line" ...when Jesus drew the line in the sand. "Where a spark turns into fire" could simply mean jesus is the light of hope...even in the darkest of places (the 'backstreets'). I assume by all this...he is saying how real the Lord is. His connection with the Lord...following him through his journey. All of the scenes in the lyrics Jesus appaered in, and yet, here is Kearney also. Almost like the foot prints in the sand...he is always with us...no metter where we are or what we do.
