I saw the singer of the Goo Goo Dolls being interviewed on VH1 on one of the music video countdown things and he said that this song is not about a girl. In my opinion, I think it is a message to the world that we all need to just set aside all our anger and hatred and let the love enter all our hearts. It's just standing there, waiting for us to open the door and let it in, but we'd rather hang on to our grudges and our stubborn pride than even dare to dream of loving each other. Face it, people, we are all so caught up in being the best, the biggest, the richest, the strongest nation on the planet that we lose sight of caring about others. Even the poor little war-ridden countries are too proud and determined to despise everyone else that they can't just relax and stop to think of peace and harmony. Millions of people starve in the streets of a country, rich or poor, and all the money is spent on weapons of mass distruction to launch at somebody else in order to wipe them out. Why can't we all just climb down off our bloody towers and concentrate on helping each other? We talk and we talk and we talk some more about how gosh darn nice it would be to have world peace, but while we're saying it we're loading up a gun to go out with and kill the father, brother, son or husband of some person just trying to defend his home. I'm not anti-America or anything, but I really must say that we suck as a whole. We've always got to go sticking our noses in business that isn't ours and invading the homelands of innocent people simply because we can. We're powerful and paranoid, sometimes a bad combination. We had no right to go over and push ourselves upon the Iraqis. No, maybe they don't like us and no, maybe they don't want our help overthrowing their dictatorship and establishing a new government, but that's no reason to go blowing up their homes and killing their children. President Bush said the government thought that Iraq had weapons of mass distruction so they sent people from the United Nations over there to investigate. The UN came back and said, "Nope, there's no weapons like you thought over there. You cannot invade. You have no justifiable reason." But guess what. We did it anyway. We went over and forced ourselves on a country who didn't deserve to be harassed this way. This war has been good for nothing and has only succeeded in robbing both Iraq and the United States of its people. I've got two brothers in the airforce and I'm pissed. Sorry to have ranted and gone seemingly off the subject. I just had to say all of that to demonstrate the message of this song which is simply to do as it says: "Let Love in."
