Well im going to take it from 2 points of view
1 - a non religious
and 2 - a religious
P.S. I cant help but come to tears from this song, it reminds me too much of friends that brought me back to loving music.
Point 1 - a couple or a set of friends were inseperable until they realize how fragile their relationship was, a wrong mistake costed their entire love and or friendship, whatever the case, and the one who made the mistake says if s/he could rewind, they would see them, and wish they didn't do what they did.
Point 2 - If they could rewind they'd see Jesus being nailed upon the cross as he was beaten to death, and he sacrificed himself for all of us.
never the less, i am atheist yet i love this song.
