sry guys, add on to my statement above...the first part is about his girlfriend, or wife, and how he is afraid to leave her. then the 2nd verse is just how he knows everything will be alright, if you look at it closely...
The end is near, so much is left to say[the end of the world is coming, and yet he has so much more he wants to say to her...pretty self explanatory]
The world is getting Cold tonight[he can really really feel it coming now]
Traumatized, people are so afraid;[everyone around him is realizing it and are so afraid that it is coming to an end, and afraid to leave their loved ones behind]
I smile cause everything’s alright.[but he is smiling because he knows everything will be alright in the afterlife, with the lord]
