i'm surprised to see that i'm only the second one to comment on pure artwork. This whole song is somewhat sad and mono-chromatic, thats what my interpretation, there are these people at the bar, who go there everyday and are in a routine day to day, it becomes numb, her narritive in this song is the outsider i believe, and she tells you where all these people are going to be, and at what time, because they're there everyday. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be taken literally, but thats what i think. The kids on the street are even a symbol for nothing changing, because they still have the same hairstyle as always, (nothing changing). The bar is a symbol for being stuck in a rut. Ani used to hang out in that part of town, according to the song, and probably is looking back and it almost seems as if she hasn't been to that bar in a few years, and then she comes back and it hasn't changed positively. She used to hang out there, and it used to probably be her second home (she used to go to alot of bars, for obvious reasons- making her music more well-known, and she used to work in bars illegally in Buffalo, before she was even old enough to drink, it used to be kept quiet, so she could make a living,-- she was fiercely independent, and moved out of her house before most people go to their junior prom or whatever). This bar was probably her escape, and now she looks back on it in a different, almost dark light, and is seeing that now it is exactly the same. She has changed, but this bar has not. She knows all the "killer lines" on the songs, and what number they are, and probably used to love them, and now she doesn't exactly remember them anymore
