I think it's neither. It's just the point of view of Christ, an idea of how he could be feeling or what he could've been thinking when he hung on the cross.
You could view it from a religious point, think about how Jesus actually might have been human. You can also view it as an Atheist who sees the bible like a storybook, and think of this as an extra chapter. That's what I do. ;)
