the first thing i thought of when i heard this song was The Great Gatsby. I agree with Hybrination. The billboard reference with the spectacles, and also the valley of ashes in the book represents the waste or essentially the downfall, poor of society. these people are stuck in this valley, they dont have the economic and social means to move up in society. when a higher class woman runs over another from the valley of ashes she gets away with klling the body because she's rich. Does anybody know how a body could get away? the song may not specifically be about the book, however there seem to be many references.
