i love this song becuase it can mean anything and evrything or absolutely nothing to you. the words seem to be there just to lead the song along, to guide it in some way. it would be self sustaining without them, but they just make you wonder what Jonsi was feeling when he put it together. as a singer/songwriter myself, a whole lot of thought goes into how you want the chords and the song to progress to get across what you feel. and given such an amazing musical work with the oppurtunity that polarbears? pointed out (writing our own words to the song) is just amazing. whenever i hear this song (which is quite often; i like to fall asleep to it on repeat) i hear "it's alright". obviously, the real words don't sound like that, but that's what i hear becuase that's what i want to/need to hear. i just lay there and my mind goes crazy about everything happening in my life and all i hear is "it's alright" and "it'll all be alright in time". that's very comforting.
