I think it's about someone else wanting a relationship to end ("it's a great old time for you to wonder why you are here") and him jsut trying to forget thet they existed so he doesn't have to feel them go ("convince the thought it's not for you") but he can't really go foward without the person helping them ("passing out and falling down") and he jsut wants to be able to make it on his own ("I greet the day where I can see my two feet in front of me").
